Student Services

Comprehensive student services will be available to PURCH students whether you are at UMass Medical School's main campus in Worcester or at the Baystate regional campus in Springfield.

PURCH students can access all centralized support services from UMass Medical School's Office of Student Affairs, including academic advising, disability accommodations, financial support, healthcare and wellness services, and student mistreatment complaint handling.

Regional Campus Orientation

As a new PURCH student, you will attend an orientation session at the Baystate campus that will include a tour and cover key topics, such as IT access, security badges, secure parking, EMR training, HIPAA and Corporate Compliance, as well as information about needle sticks and other work-related injuries, and health care services.

Health and Wellness

The Student Health Service at the main campus will manage your initial screening, and administrative processes and procedures related to matriculation.

You may choose to have well-visits or routine care for ongoing medical issues, including mental health counseling, at either the Student Health Service at the main campus or in Springfield. You will receive a list of medical resources available at the regional campus and in the Springfield area, including providers not affiliated with Baystate Health.

If you have a medical emergency while at the regional campus, you will be referred to the Baystate Medical Center Emergency Department. You can also use Baystate Urgent Care locations for walk-in medical services for non-emergency illnesses or injuries that cannot wait for a primary care appointment.

If you participate in PURCH's Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, you will have 24/7 access to the emergency department at that site.
