Application Process
The Greenfield Family Medicine Residency Program participates in the ERAS Program for the residency application process. For information about an application for our program, visit the ERAS website.
- All applications will be accepted ONLY via ERAS website. Our NRMP# is 2303120C0.
- Applications received by mail will not be accepted.
- The deadline for the receipt of the ERAS application is December 15.
- Upon receipt of the application, it will be reviewed and an invitation for an interview will be extended by letter to qualified applicants.
Application Requirements for All Applicants
- Completed Common ERAS Application Form
- Curriculum Vitae
- Dean's Letter
- Medical School Transcript
- Personal Statement
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation (at least one from a family physician or primary care physician)
- Current medical school good standing or graduation within the past 3 years
- Passage of USMLE or COMLEX Steps 1 and 2 prior to entering residency. All applicants are required to have passed Step 1 with no more than 2 attempts. All applicants are required to have passed Step 2 with scores received by February 15th in order to be ranked.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status preferred
- All residency applicants must fulfill Baystate's Resident and Fellow Appointment Requirements.
International Medical Graduates
We accept mainly J1 Clinical Visas and we require 6 months of prior US clinical experience for international applicants with significant patient care responsibility including:
- Direct patient contact
- History taking
- Physical examinations
- Development of differential diagnoses
- Identification of relevant clinical findings
- Problem assessments
- Formulation of management plans
- Observerships/externships which do not include the above cannot be accepted
Institutional Policy on Visa Status
J1 Visas
The institution sponsors J1 Visas through ECFMG for applicants who are eligible for appointment to a residency or fellowship position.
H1B Visas
The availability of the institution to support H1B Visas is very limited and not generally available. However, upon request from a Program Director and under exceptional circumstances, the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Baystate Health will review H1B applications on a case by case basis.
Interviews
Virtual Interviewing
Consistent with recommendations from the AAMC and the ACGME, UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate GME programs will conduct interviews virtually for all applicants.
