Goals
This rotation provides the student with a broadly based experience in medical consultation for patients on the surgical, psychiatric, and obstetrical services.
Objectives
The student will...
- work with a senior resident and an attending preceptor to provide consultative services to both inpatients and outpatients.
- gain exposure and understanding of preoperative risk evaluations in patients with a variety of medical problems, postoperative problems, outpatient preoperative management of medical problems, medical problems in pregnancy, and medical complications of psychiatric treatment.
- perform an initial evaluation and present the patient to the attending at teaching rounds which are held daily from 11-12.
