PE-4107 Inpatient Medicine Pediatrics Elective

Location: Baystate Medical Center, 759 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA
Goals
The student will have exposure to inpatient pediatric and medical ward experiences. There will be exposure to combine medicine-pediatric residents and faculty on this rotation which may prove helpful for those students considering combined medicine-pediatrics as a residency training option. The rotation will have evening and possibly overnight call. There may be the possibility of spending time at the Mason Square Neighborhood Center and the ambulatory training site of the Baystate Medicine-Pediatric Residency. The student will be evaluated by their supervising hospitalist faculty as well as upper level residents.
Objectives
The student will…
- Rotate between two disciplines and be expected to function as an acting intern, alongside categorical medicine, pediatric, and med-peds residents.
- Be expected to admit and follow general medicine and pediatric patients.
- Manage and reflect upon common disease processes from both an internal medicine and pediatric perspective.
