Career Description

The Histotechnician is responsible for preparing thin sections of tissue biopsies obtained from patients during surgical procedures.  The tissue is cut into very thin slices, mounted onto slides and stained with special dyes to make cellular details visible to the Pathologist upon microscopic examination.


Accredited programs (approximately 1 year) can lead to certificate of completion.


Clinical experiences are arranged through the academic advisor from  programs affiliated with Baystate Medical Center.

Length of Clinical Experience

Students will participate in clinical experiences for a  period of 3 months.
