Research Centers and Departmental Research

We are nationally-recognized experts in population health, clinical effectiveness and outcomes research. Our investigators conduct basic, biomedical and clinical research in many medical and surgical specialties.

  • The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) supports Baystate Health's strategies of academic innovation, advancing new standards of care, and improving efficiency to lower the cost of healthcare. Having a dedicated space focused solely on clinical trials provides the opportunity to accelerate the growth of Baystate Health's clinical trial portfolio and increase access to innovative treatment for our patients and the community. 
  • The Department of Healthcare Delivery and Population Sciences was established to focus on effective and efficient healthcare delivery and the advancement of population sciences that benefit the patients they serve.
  • Researchers in our academic departments are actively engaged in clinical research, including national clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies.

Research Partnerships

Baystate Medical Center is an active participant in the research communities of Massachusetts and a member of national, state and regional organizations that promote the goals of biomedical research. Many of our physicians, researchers, and leaders also serve in leadership roles with our affiliates.

Conflicts of Interest

When Baystate applies for or receives funds from federal agency within the U.S. Public Health Service, such as the National Institutes of Health or the Food and Drug Administration, it must follow specific federal regulations. To ensure that those regulations are followed, we have adopted a policy, "Disclosure Of Financial Interests And Management Of Financial Conflicts Of Interest For U.S. Public Health Service Funded Research."
