Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at UMass Chan-Baystate

We're new - no one else in New England can say that

Our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship is a new, innovative, individualized and comprehensive training program housed within a large academic level 1 trauma center. Baystate Health is also a tertiary care referral medical center and has decades of training experience with 10+ residency programs and 20+ fellowships.

We are accessible and affordable, progressive and inclusive, growing and accomplished, and eager to help you learn more about us!  HOW TO APPLY

You will be welcomed in our department - and beyond

We’re committed to provide outstanding, comprehensive training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, preparing our Fellows to work in a variety of practice settings. As a fellow, you’ll work collaboratively with our colleagues while training within the health system and community. You’ll become a respected member of our department and our health system.

Be an active participant on our multidisciplinary teams

Our Child Psychiatry curriculum will advance your leadership skills as you are engaged with, and embedded with, pediatricians, emergency medicine, hospital and sub-specialists, and a wide range of ancillary health colleagues.

While leading care teams and services at one of the nation’s largest Child Partial Hospitalization Programs and at our nationally recognized child trauma treatment program, the Family Advocacy Center, you will mentor physicians and students-in-training across pediatrics, psychiatry, and emergency medicine.

You will be our colleague and collaborator

Being a smaller program will allow for strong relationships with our faculty and department leading to more learning opportunities. The program values individualized education and mentoring, fellow and faculty wellness, and work-life balance in a collegial and respectful environment.

The mission of the program aligns with the mission of Baystate Medical Center, our sponsoring institution: "the charitable mission of Baystate Health is to improve the health of the people in our communities every day, with quality and compassion."

Program-at-a-glance

Our 2 year Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship is collaborative, collegial, and community focused. We are home to one of the largest Child Partial Hospital Programs, have a newly established Infant and Early Childhood Division and our Family Advocacy Center is nationally recognized as a leader in the treatment and training around childhood trauma.

We service a mix of patients from both urban and rural settings allowing for breadth of knowledge around the strengths and social disparities that impact both types of communities. The Fellowship is housed within the Division of Child Psychiatry that also includes a Child Outpatient Clinic with therapy focused on medically complex patients, Child C-L and Emergency Psychiatry and our Child Psychiatry Access Program.
