OSHA Compliance

Our staff has specific expertise and interest in occupational medicine. We can help you develop the systems and services you need to meet Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requirements and to ensure that your workplace is as safe as possible for the people who work there.

In working with our clients, our two main goals are prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses, and successful management of the injuries that do occur. We have a strong return-to-work orientation, believing that it is in both the employee’s and employer’s best interest to keep lost time to a minimum.

BFMC’s Workplace Health program can also offer on-site services at your company for such things as flu immunizations, pulmonary function testing, audiograms, health risk appraisals and ergonomic evaluations.


The medical director for BFMC’s Workplace Health program is available to meet with you to provide consultation on a wide variety of occupational medicine issues, including:

Injury Prevention

Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC) Workplace Health program will work with you to develop a program designed to address the on-the-job health and safety needs of your employees. We offer a full range of services to help you prevent injuries before they occur, including:

  • Pre-placement/post-offer examinations
  • Medical surveillance examinations
  • Fitness for duty examinations
  • DOT physicals
  • Drug testing – NIDA and non-NIDA
  • Breath alcohol testing
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Respirator clearance
  • Respirator fit testing
  • TB skin testing
  • Audiograms
  • Immunizations, including flu and Hepatitis B

Injury Treatment

Our experienced providers have extensive experience treating work-related injuries and working with employers in a variety of industrial and other work-place settings. Our goal is to help people safely return to work as soon as they can after they have been injured, and to provide them with the care and education they need to prevent future injuries. We also work with employers to provide timely communication and to develop return to work and treatment plans.

Our treatment services include:

  • Early intervention after injury
  • Continuing injury management to assure safe and timely return to work
  • Coordination of rehabilitation services and other referrals
  • Recommendations for modified duty
  • Evaluation of exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Evaluation of exposure to blood-borne pathogens
  • After-hours services provided by the Emergency Department at Baystate Franklin Medical Center
  • Ongoing written communication with the employer regarding an employee’s work status, treatment plan and other needs
