Baystate Health pays all or a portion of the cost of the following benefits
Health Plan (for you and your family)
Choose from three Health New England (HNE) plans, including two HMO plans and one PPO plan.
Pharmacy Plan (included when you choose a health plan above)

Delta Dental Plan (for you and your family)
Plan is offered every two years.
• Employees can choose high or low option plans.
• Preventive care as well as basic and major restorative care and orthodontia are covered.
Retirement Package
• Pension Plan: Employer-paid defined contribution plan with several investment options available. You are vested after three years of benefit service.
• 403(b)/Tax-Sheltered Annuities: Employees can make pre-tax contributions of up to the maximum amount allowed per the IRS.
Earned Time*
Vacation, holiday and sick hours are combined in a Personal Time Bank. Time is accrued on a bi-weekly basis up to annual maximums.
An Extended Illness Bank accrues for short-term illnesses/disability lasting more than three consecutive days. A Personal Time cash-in option is available.
• Full-time, non-exempt employees may accrue 25 days of personal time and seven days extended illness time each year.
• Full-time, exempt employees may accrue 30 days of personal time and seven days extended illness time each year.
Group Long-Term Disability
• Covers 50 percent of base salary at no cost to employees. Part-time employees pay the full cost.**
• Employees can choose to increase coverage to 60 percent or 70 percent of base salary. Employees pay the additional cost.
Group Term Life Insurance
• At least one times salary for full-time employees. Fifty percent of salary for part-time employees.**
• Amounts over $499,999 require medical underwriting.
• Supplemental coverage may be purchased for one to five times salary. Medical underwriting is required for some amounts.
Shift Differentials (Springfield-based companies, excluding BH Ambulance and BVNAH)
• Evening differential: 10 percent to a maximum of $2.50/hour.
• Night differential: 20 percent to a maximum of $7.00/hour
• Weekend differential: 20 percent to a maximum of $2/hour.
* Pro-rated for part-time employees.
**To be benefits-eligible, part-time employees must work for a position budgeted at 16 hours per week.
Voluntary (self-paid) benefits
Vision Insurance
Covers eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses (plus discounts for laser vision correction surgery).
Health Care and Dependent Care Reimbursement Account Plans
You may make pre-tax contributions through payroll deduction that can be used to pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses (up to $5,000 annually) and/or dependent care costs (up to $5,000 annually).
Whole Life Insurance
Life insurance with cash value available to you, your spouse, children, and grandchildren.
Short-Term Disability Insurance
Sixty percent coverage up to $6,000 per month ($3,000 guaranteed issue) available to cover you from end of Extended Illness through the 90-day Long-Term Disability waiting period.
