Transplant Services

Transplant Services, a service of Baystate Medical Center, provides full patient care to those requiring kidney transplants.  Living or deceased donor renal transplant is offered as treatment of End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).  Services are available for the adult and pediatric populations.  Laparoscopic donor nephrectomy are performed for living donor candidates.

An experienced team of transplant professionals provide the highest quality of patient and family centered care.  Our full multi-disciplinary team includes Transplant Surgeons, Nephrologists, Transplant Coordinators, a Social Worker, a Financial Counselor, a Dietician, and support staff.

Patients are referred for kidney transplant by their primary nephrologist.  Initial appointments offer patients, their families and prospective living donors the opportunity to meet with the multi-disciplinary transplant team.  This team will guide patients throughout their transplant experience; work-up phase, in-patient hospital course and post-op follow up.  Bilingual teaching materials and interpreters are available.
