2011 Match: BMC Has 94% Match Rate for Categorical Positions

The 7 new primary care positions funded by HRSA's Primary Care Residency Expansion grants—4 in Internal Medicine and 3 in Pediatrics—were filled in the Match.

Baystate Medical Center's 10 residency programs had an overall match rate of 94% for categorical positions (64 of 68), and 90% for all positions (65 of 72). There were 4 preliminary positions in the Match, including 1 in Internal Medicine that was filled in the Match, and 3 in Surgery that were filled in the scramble.

New Residents At-A-Glance

  • 34 from U.S. allopathic medical school
  • 15 from U.S. osteopathic medical schools
  • 16 from international medical schools
  • 28 men and 37 women

New Residents & Fellows Begin Orientation June 29 and Start Their Programs July 1

Baystate is welcoming 113 new trainees into all 10 residency programs and 15 of its 16 fellowships.

General orientation for these new residents and fellows begins Thursday June 29 at 8:00 am at the Baystate Health Education Center in Holyoke, followed by a reception that evening at the Carriage House at the Barney Estate. They start their new programs on July 1.
